What are those round CD cases called?

They're called clamshell cases. Can you see why?

Generically, the round, polypropylene cases are called clamshell cases.


If you look at the image above, you can see how they got that name. Clamshell cases are molded from a single piece of polypropylene, which gives them stronger hinges. Look for a clamshell which closes tightly because poorly made cases can pop open during transit.
